ABSTRACT
The objective of this research
was to study and compare public participation in local
development planning of Nong Han District Management Organization, Udon Thani by classifying the subjects according to their age,
education and income. 397 people who live in Nong Han District, Udon Thani,
were selected by simple random sampling. For data
analysis, Statistical Package doe the Social Sciences (SPSS) was utilized to
analyze percentage of frequency, means, Standard Deviation, t-test, One-way
ANOVA and Scheffe’s Post hoc Comparison Method.
Finding were as the follows:
1. Overall, it was found that the level of
public participation in local development planning
of Nong Han District Administration Organization, Udon Thani, was moderate. When considering
in each dimension, it was found that people in the district participate in ‘operation activity’ and ‘problem definition’ highly. Meanwhile, there are two dimensions of lower public participation in local development planning, including ‘participation in decision making’ and ‘evaluation’.

2. The results of comparison of public
participation in local development planning of Nong Han District Administration
Organization, Udon Thani were as followed:

It was found from sex classifying that public participation in local
development planning was significantly different between males and females at 0.01. When considering each dimension, it was found that public
participation in local development planning was significantly different among
the four dimensions at 0.01.
2.2
It was found from age classifying that public participation in local
development planning was significantly different between age groups at 0.01. When considering in each dimension, it was found that
public participation in local development planning was significantly different
among the four dimensions at 0.05.
2.3
It was found from education classifying that public participation in local
development planning was significantly different between different levels of
education attainment at 0.01. When considering in each
dimension, it was found that public participation in local development planning
was significantly different among the four dimensions at 0.01. When considering
the participation in operational activity it was found that public
participation in local development planning was significantly different among educational levels at 0.05 but there was
no difference in ‘participation with problem definition’.
2.4
It was found from occupation classifying that public participation in local
development planning was significantly different between occupations at 0.01. When considering in each dimension, it was found that
public participation in local development planning was significantly different
among the four dimensions at 0.01.
2.5
It was found from total income classifying that public participation in local
development planning was significantly different between income groups at 0.01. When considering in each dimension, it was found that
public participation in local development planning was significantly different
among the four dimensions at 0.01.
